Cross-country Ski Lesson and Trail Tour
Learn how to glide, pole, turn and handle hills ? all the basic skills you will need to enjoy traditional cross-country skiing. After the lesson, join the instructors and park naturalist for a guided ski tour on the wooded trails. Bring your own skis or rent some at the park office ($10/day for skis, boots and poles) before meeting at the Interpretive/Visitor Center. Registration is required and is limited. To register, email [email protected] before 3 p.m. on Friday, January 23rd. Please include the following information: program name & date, your name, phone number and number of people attending. You will receive a confirmation to show you successfully registered. -

Candlelight Event
Enjoy snowshoeing (skiing or hiking if conditions permit) by the light of the moon, with candle luminaries to help guide the way.
Trails will be determined closer to the event date.
After exploring the trails, visitors can warm up near a crackling bonfire while they enjoy hot cider and cookies at the Interpretive/Visitor Center.

Kids' Snowshoe Hike: The Science of Snow
How are snowflakes formed? What makes snowflakes unique? You will learn answers to these chilling questions and more during a 1/2-mile snowshoe hike. A brief lesson and snowshoes are provided. We have snowshoes that fit kids from age 4 to large adults. If you want to bring younger children, we can try to fit them with snowshoes, or you can bring a sled and pull them along. Kathio State Park's Winter Scavenger Hunt
Grab a form at the Interpretive/Visitor Center to begin your winter adventure! Based on snow conditions, you can walk or snowshoe. If you don't have your own snowshoes, rental ($6) is available at the Park Office/Ranger Station. Indoor option available. Once completed, return to claim your prize! -

We will begin with a brief indoor talk about different types of snowshoes, then move outside for a how-to-lesson and snowshoe hike. Snowshoes are provided. Snowshoeing Into the Past
After an indoor look at some artifacts, archaeologists will lead us on a snowshoe trek to locations where they located evidence of a village from the 1600s and a "campsite" dating to over 3,000 years ago. Grab your camera and a BINGO Card from the Interpretive/Visitor Center, to begin your adventure! Explore the trail and/or the building to find the subjects. You can walk or snowshoe - if you don't have your own, rental is available at the Park Office. Once you get a BINGO ... return to show your digital photos to claim your prize. All ages welcome!
